You have three options to register in New York State:
Online. Go to NY.Gov ID to create an account.
In person. Go to your county board of elections, a voter registration center, or your local Department of Motor Vehicles.
By mail. Request a voter registration form online or call 800-FOR-VOTE (800-367-8683).
Registration deadlines vary for primary and general elections.
You must be registered by Saturday, October 24, 2026, to vote in the 2026 midterm election.

To vote in the 2026 primary elections on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, you must be registered by Friday, June 13, 2026 (10 days before the election).
To vote in the 2026 midterm elections on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, you must be registered by Saturday, October 24, 2026 (25 days before the election).

Your first and last name
Your date of birth
Your ZIP code
You can also confirm your polling site — both early voting and Election Day.

To change or update your name or address, go to the New York State NY.GOV ID portal. Changes must be received at least 15 days before an election.
You can change your party enrollment through the same portal, but no later than February 14, 2026.
